Partners

The purpose or goal of the Consortium for Open Learning is to provide quality learning opportunities and equity of access to higher education, beyond the traditional classroom, for all California students through a variety of appropriate open-learning technologies and techniques.

As of January, 2003, the Consortium for Open Learning has 27 Community College Members, one Individual Associate Member, Five Emeritus Members, 9 Educational Associate Members, and one Appointed Representative each from The Academic Senate (State-Wide) for California Community Colleges; the California Postsecondary Education Commission; the California School Library Association; the California Virtual Campus (CVC), Bay Area, Region I; the California Virtual University (CVU); the Chancellor's Office, California Community Colleges ; the Community College Foundation; the Foundation for California Community Colleges; the Office of the President, University of California; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.

The Consortium for Open Learning provides a number services for its members. It is a major source of information on many key aspects of open learning and related open-learning opportunities. The Consortium provides a network for communication and interactivity among all of its Members, Associate Members, and Representatives to the Consortium. The COL Administrative and Faculty Listservs are an invaluable source of the latest advances, ideas, feedback, and opportunities in the open-learning arena. The present major area of concentration is online instruction.

ULiveandLearn offers a cost-effective "Layered Learning "™ model for building and delivering flexible and interactive learning solutions, including online courseware, live Webcasts, multimedia events, face-2-face programs, teleclasses, and video, audio and print materials.
