Video Conferencing

Video conferencing, also known as compressed video or interactive television, is the distance education environment most similar to a traditional classroom. The medium offers many opportunities for innovative instruction, but does have its challenges. CI2 training explores critical instructor accommodations to take full advantage of the system, and provides specific strategies to enhance the effectiveness of this teaching/learning environment.

Effective use of Video Conferencing
Video Conferencing provides opportunities for groups of learners in separate locations to participate in same-time learning and projects. This environment has its own sets of challenges that must be considered to effectively reach and motivate learners.

CI2 has considerable experience in using both video conferencing and broadcast television as effective teaching tools. We encourages the use of web-based technologies as a supplement to television-based systems, particularly for one-way broadcast television, to provide opportunities for learners to actively engage with each other and the content. Course modules listed on the Web-based Learning page can be customized to meet the needs of those using television-based environments.

Below is an article written by Dr. Steven Stahl of CI2 which disusses a highly successful experience with videoconferencing.
